Price and Availability

The Xiaomi 17T and 17T Pro are both available to pre-order now ahead of release in early June, but there’s a catch; they’re more expensive than their Xiaomi 15T equivalents, with the Xiaomi 17T coming in at £649 and the Pro model at £799.

Xiaomi 17T Pro has a larger battery

With a capacity of 7000mAh, the Xiaomi 17T Pro boasts one of the largest batteries on the market – it’s even Xiaomi’s largest capacity in international markets. Sure, it’s not as mighty as the Find X9 Pro’s 7500mAh, but it certainly trumps the Pixel 10’s 4970mAh and Galaxy S26’s 4300mAh.

With its 7000mAh cell under the hood, Xiaomi promises the 17T Pro will deliver 1.88 days of use, but we’ll have to wait until we review the handset to see how well it really performs.

In comparison, the Xiaomi 17T is fitted with a slightly smaller 6500mAh cell which is promised to deliver up to 1.57 days of battery life. Much like the 17T Pro, we’ll have to wait until we review the 17T to confirm Xiaomi’s claims.

Xiaomi 17T Pro supports faster overall and wired charging

Following on from the above, when it does come time to top-up the 17T Pro, you’ll have the choice between 100W wired and 50W wireless HyperCharge speeds. That’s the same combo found in the Xiaomi 17 which actually has a slightly smaller battery than the 17T Pro.

In comparison, the Xiaomi 17T doesn’t support wireless charging, nor does it reach quite as fast speeds as its Pro alternative. Instead, you’ll find 67W HyperCharge and 22.5W wired reverse charging.

However, remember to benefit from these promised charging speeds, you’ll need to invest in compatible chargers as Xiaomi doesn’t include one in the box.

One of the biggest differences between the Xiaomi 17T and 17T Pro is with their respective processors. Unlike the flagship Xiaomi 17, the 17T series sports MediaTek offerings rather than Qualcomm’s own, with the 17T Pro boasting Dimensity 9500. Also found within the Find X9 Pro, Dimensity 9500 promises to ensure the 17T Pro sees powerful performance and offers “significant upgrades” compared to the previous generation.

In comparison, the Xiaomi 17T runs on Dimensity 8500-Ultra which is promised to offer a “25% increase” in GPU peak performance compared to its predecessor. Dimensity 8500-Ultra is also behind the Poco X8 Pro, a budget-friendly phone which we praised for its ability to smoothly flick through apps and even reach a solid 60fps in some titles too.

Xiaomi 17T Pro has a bigger screen

There are a few differences between the 17T and 17T Pro’s respective displays, with the most obvious being the size. While the 17T has a more compact 6.59-inch panel, the 17T Pro has a larger 6.83-inch display instead. Even so, the larger 17T Pro isn’t quite as hefty as the likes of the Pixel 10 Pro XL or iPhone 17 Pro Max, making it a slightly more pocketable handset.

Another noteworthy difference is with their refresh rates, with the 17T Pro promising up to 144Hz while the 17T maxes out at 120Hz – making the former a more appealing option for gamers.

Otherwise, both have AMOLED, 1.5K displays that are fitted with Gorilla Glass 7i protection and sport Xiaomi Vision Care technology.

Xiaomi 17T Pro supports up to 8K@30fps recording

Surprisingly, both the 17T and 17T Pro are equipped with the same trio of rear lenses, which includes a 50MP main, a 50MP 5x telephoto and a 12MP ultrawide. In fact, aside from the fact both phones are different sizes, their respective rears share a very similar design.

There aren’t many differences between the two handsets’ lenses, as both are powered by Leica Live Moment, which promises to “go beyond static photography” and capture “dynamic, story-driven visuals”. However, although both can record 4K@60fps, the Xiaomi 17T Pro benefits from 8K@30fps filming too.

Early Verdict

With a mightier chip, larger battery and support for 8K recording, the Xiaomi 17T Pro looks set to be a solid Android handset that’ll suit most users. However, with Dimensity 8500-Ultra under the hood and the same trio of rear lenses, Xiaomi 17T is certainly an appealing choice for those on a tighter budget.

We’ll be sure to update this versus with a more conclusive verdict once we review both handsets.
