This upgrade basically means the main camera module will be physically larger on the iPhone 18 Pro than it was on its predecessor. This will result in the camera bump’s thickness being increased by approximately 2mm.
The iPhone 18 Pro (and the iPhone 18 Pro Max) have long been rumored to get a main camera with a variable aperture, and that alone could explain this size increase. There’s also a chance that the sensor itself will be larger, and that would definitely contribute to the added girth.
