Motorola joined the flip foldable market pretty early on with the Razr 2019, a few months before Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Z Flip (a delayed launch meant that these two arrived very close together). However, Samsung had kicked things off with a book-style foldable the year before, while Motorola took this long to make its first.
The Motorola Razr Fold is already available in multiple regions, starting with the UK and Europe, then India, the US and Canada.
The Razr Fold features a 6.6” cover display, a 21:9 LTPO panel with 1080p+ resolution and up to 165Hz refresh rate. The inner display is an 8.1” LTPO panel with up to 120Hz refresh rate and a squarish aspect ratio (2,232 x 2,484px). The optional Moto Pen Ultra stylus works on both displays.
The phone is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 (not the Elite version) and a fairly large 6,000mAh battery with 80W wired and 50W wireless charging. That’s quite a bit bigger than the 4,400mAh battery in the Galaxy Z Fold7 (25W wired / 15W wireless charging) and the 5,015mAh battery of the Pixel 10 Pro Fold (30W / 15W). That’s the magic of Si/C batteries that Samsung, Google and Apple have refused to adopt so far.

The phone is equipped with a 50MP main camera (with a large 1/1.28” sensor and OIS), a 50MP 3x/71mm periscope (1/1.95” sensor, OIS) and a 50MP ultra-wide module (122°). There are two selfie cameras on board – a 32MP unit on the cover display and a 20MP one inside.

The phone is rated IP48/IP49 for protection against submersion and water jets. It measures 10.1mm thick when folded (vs. 8.9mm for the Samsung and 10.8mm for the Google phone) and weighs 243g (vs. 215g for the Samsung and 258g for the Google phone).
While there aren’t any book-style foldables outside of Samsung and Google (and soon Apple) in the US and Canada, there are in Europe and India. For example, the Honor Magic V6 is launching in Europe soon (price unknown, the V5 is available at €1,300).
The Motorola Razr Fold costs EUR 2,000 / GBP 1,800 / INR 150,000 / USD 1,900 / CAD 2,700, which is slightly less than the Galaxy Z Fold7 launch prices (and remember that Samsung recently had to increase prices, which will likely affect the Z Fold8 too). Either way, this is not a budget foldable by any means.
