Samsung’s next foldable may still be months away, but accessory makers clearly aren’t waiting around.

Cases for the rumoured Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide have already appeared on Alibaba. This gives us another early look at Samsung’s dramatically redesigned foldable before the company has even confirmed it exists.

The listings, first spotted by tipster Ice Universe, show protective cases built around a noticeably wider handset. This backs up previous reports that Samsung is finally moving away from the tall, remote-control-like shape that has defined the Galaxy Z Fold series for years.

Instead, the Fold 8 Wide appears to adopt a broader 4:3-style inner display ratio. This makes it look much closer to a compact tablet when unfolded. The leaked renders suggest the device will also be significantly shorter than the standard Fold design, at around 123.9mm tall. It still manages an ultra-thin 4.3mm profile when opened.

That would make it thinner than some current foldable rivals, including Huawei’s latest models. It would also make it potentially much easier to use one-handed when folded shut.

The shift in design feels deliberate. Samsung has faced years of criticism over the Fold lineup’s narrow outer display. This was especially true as Chinese rivals moved toward wider, more traditional smartphone proportions. The “Wide” branding alone suggests Samsung knows exactly what problem it’s trying to solve this time around.

Specs haven’t been officially confirmed. However, rumours point toward a seriously high-end foldable expected to run on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. Meanwhile, leaks also mention a new “crease-less” OLED panel that’s said to minimise the visible fold in the centre of the screen.

According to current rumours, Samsung could unveil the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide during a Galaxy Unpacked event in London on July 22, 2026. Until then, it seems case makers may continue leaking the phone ahead of Samsung itself.

There’s also growing speculation that Samsung is positioning the Fold 8 Wide as a direct response to Apple’s long-rumoured foldable iPhone. Leaks often refer to this device as the iPhone Ultra, focusing heavily on crease reduction and a wider display format.
