Samsung’s Galaxy S27 Pro could end up feeling a lot more “Ultra” than expected if the latest camera leak proves accurate.

According to a new report, both the Galaxy S27 Pro and Galaxy S27 Ultra are set to share the same upgraded 200MP primary camera sensor and matching ultrawide cameras. This marks a pretty major shift for Samsung’s flagship lineup considering the company usually keeps its best camera hardware reserved for the Ultra model.

Samsung reportedly designed its upcoming 1/1.3-inch ISOCELL HP6 sensor to improve low-light performance and capture more detail. More interestingly, Samsung may also ditch the dedicated 3x telephoto lens entirely on the S27 Ultra. Instead, the phone may rely on in-sensor cropping from the main sensor for shorter zoom ranges.

That would leave the Ultra with a simplified triple-camera setup centred around the new 200MP sensor and its existing 5x periscope zoom camera, with Samsung apparently leaning harder into computational photography this time around.

The Galaxy S27 Pro, meanwhile, is expected to inherit much of that same hardware. The report suggests the smaller flagship could use the exact same primary and ultrawide cameras as the Ultra. Instead, the telephoto setup becomes the main differentiator between the two devices.

Samsung may still include a dedicated zoom lens on the S27 Pro. Leaks suggest it could be a smaller, lower-cost 5x sensor compared to the Ultra’s more advanced periscope setup.

This could make the S27 Pro a far more compelling option for people who want flagship cameras without carrying around a massive phone. Current rumours point to a 6.5-inch display for the S27 Pro. While the Ultra will keep its larger 6.9-inch screen and exclusive S Pen support, the Pro will maintain a more compact design.

Of course, these leaks are still early, and Samsung’s camera plans could easily change before launch. But if the company really brings Ultra-level camera hardware to a smaller flagship, the Galaxy S27 Pro could become the sleeper hit of the lineup.
