Spotify adds emoji reactions to collaborative playlists

Spotify has found a way to make contributing to collaborative playlists more engaging and fun – emoji reactions. With it, contributors to a playlist can react to each other’s additions with ❤️, 😂, 👍, 🎧, 🔥 and🥹.

The person who added the song will get a notification over Spotify Messages, which will let them know how others in the group feel about the song. This is just for the insiders, though, only the owner of the collaborative playlist and the contributors can see the reactions.

And if this doesn’t sound like a good idea, then you can turn off emoji reactions for collaborative playlists you own. For collaborative playlists with fewer than 10 editors, reactions are enabled by default – for playlists built by larger groups, the owner has to enable the feature manually.

Spotify has added a lot of playlist-related functionality. You can import playlists from competing services, get AI to generate lists for you, add custom transitions between songs and more. The streamer is also building out new podcast features and audiobook features. It even added a Fitness hub – it’s trying to make Spotify an integral part of your daily routine.
