Samsung has announced a major update to the Samsung Health app, which comes with a UI redesign and introduces new health features supported by the upcoming Galaxy Watch.

Talking about design, the update introduces a streamlined layout with five categories: Sleep, Activity, Nutrition, Mindfulness, and Vitals. Users can now access their daily wellness tips and AI-powered Energy Score on the Home screen to easily track various aspects of their health.

Regarding new features, Samsung has announced Vitals, Heart Health Score, Daily Cardio Load, and Fitness Index, which will be first available on the upcoming Galaxy Watch.

The Vitals feature analyzes five key overnight bio-signals against your true resting baseline when you wake up: heart rate, heart rate variability, respiratory rate, skin temperature, and blood oxygen. And it sends you notifications only when it detects meaningful deviations, helping you better determine whether you are fighting an illness or just need more rest.

The Vascular Load feature introduced by Samsung has now evolved into Heart Health Score. It combines your body composition data with metrics such as sleep, stress, and activity from Vascular Load, generating a unified score that provides clearer insight into your heart health and helps identify habits that impact your long-term well-being.

Next up is the Daily Cardio Load feature, which measures the accumulated cardiovascular strain and calculates daily load and maximum training capacity to recommend optimal training targets and rest times. This helps users reach their goals without experiencing burnout or risking an injury.

Lastly, we have the Fitness Index feature, which analyzes a user’s heart rate, VO2 Max, and daily steps, and compares them with their peers to ensure their exercise routines are delivering results. This feature also identifies a user’s physical strengths and weaknesses to deliver tailored content and personalized goals for continuous improvements.

In addition to these new features, the Samsung Health app update also improves the AGEs index to automatically capture overnight measurements and build a long-term overview of how a user’s lifestyle choices are affecting their body.

Moreover, Samsung has improved the Antioxidant Index, which now provides users with a clearer roadmap of their nutritional intake. It uses the new trend charts and daily history logs to visually connect users’ dietary choices to physical responses over time.

The Samsung Health app update also introduces a new Hearing Health feature that monitors ambient noise through Galaxy Watch and provides personalized analytics to help protect users’ ears in noisy environments.

In its official press release, Samsung said, “These advancements offer a glimpse into the future of Samsung Health — a future that will be fully realized with the launch of Samsung’s next generation of Galaxy Watches, engineered to bring this proactive intelligence to life like never before.“

So Samsung basically confirmed its next-gen Galaxy Watch series will include multiple Galaxy Watches, without revealing their names or how many smartwatches it will launch next. Rumors claim there will be three of them – Galaxy Watch9, Galaxy Watch9 Classic, and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2. And we expect to see them go official on July 22, which is when the Galaxy Z Flip8, Galaxy Z Fold8, and Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra are rumored to be unveiled.

Circling back to the Samsung Health app update, Samsung said it will roll out starting June 8, but owners of existing Galaxy Watches will have to wait to try the new features, as they will be first available on the next-gen Galaxy Watches.
