One of the biggest announcements from yesterday’s Google Android Show I/O Edition event was the all-new Googlebook laptop lineup, which will essentially replace Chromebooks.

The highlight feature of the Googlebook is Magic Pointer, which allows users to bring up Google Gemini simply by moving their cursor around on the screen. Once the Magic Pointer is evoked, it brings up a host of contextual AI features, which can read your screen and use Gemini AI to complete tasks without going to a separate tab or app.

Google showed off writing assistance, content summarization, calendar entries, and image edits at the keynote, and we now have confirmation that the Magic Pointer will be available inside the desktop version of Gemini in Chrome soon.

Google did not confirm an actual rollout schedule just yet, but it could limit the initial rollout to English-speaking countries, as it has with other new features in the past. There’s also the option that Magic Pointer remains locked under one of the AI subscription plans. We’ll make sure to update you with more details when they emerge.
