Samsung’s next foldable is still a few weeks away from launch. However, fresh leaks are already filling in the gaps.
The Galaxy Z Flip 8 looks set to focus on two long-requested upgrades: a lighter body and a less visible crease.
According to a tipster named Lanzuk, the new hinge design could bring the weight down to 180 grams, compared to 188 grams on the Galaxy Z Flip 7. While it may not sound like a dramatic drop on paper, experience shows that even small changes are noticeable.
The bigger talking point is the display. The leak points to a “crease-free design structure”, suggesting Samsung may finally be closing in on one of the most persistent flaws in foldables. That said, expectations are being kept in check. Fully eliminating the crease is something few manufacturers have managed convincingly so far, with devices like the Oppo Find N6 setting a high bar in that area.
There’s also mention of a slightly extended horizontal size, which likely refers to subtle changes in thickness. Earlier reports suggest the Flip 8 could be around 0.5mm thinner than its predecessor. The current Flip already measured 85.5 x 75.2 x 13.7mm.
On the durability side, Samsung is expected to keep the same core hardware approach for now. Reports say the camera system and battery capacity remain unchanged, and the company will also keep charging speeds at 25W. This is something that’s increasingly starting to feel conservative as faster standards become more common across rival phones.
A small trade-off may come in the form of pricing. Lanzuk notes a slight price increase which lines up with wider industry pressure as component costs, particularly RAM, continue to rise.
While these changes aren’t a full reinvention, they do point to Samsung refining rather than redesigning its flip phone formula. The focus seems clear: shave off weight, improve the folding experience, and quietly smooth out one of the most visible quirks of foldable displays.
We should get confirmation soon. The Galaxy Z Flip 8 is expected to launch alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 8. In addition, a rumoured Fold 8 Wide variant may arrive in July.
