Google is testing a new feature for Android phones that will learn from your usage habits and automatically recommend suggestions. The feature which is called Contextual suggestions is buried inside the Google services settings and the folks over at 9to5Google were able to access it on several Pixel 10 series devices (including the 10a) running Android 16 with Google Play services version 26.18.

Google describes the feature as “helpful suggestions from your apps and services based on your routine activities and locations”. It apparently uses on-device AI to analyze your daily habits, which could imply it will remain exclusive to Pixel devices. The feature can be found by going into the Google services section of the Settings and then tapping on “All services” and the “Other” section.

The feature is apparently on by default and uses your device activity and location data to recommend actions. Examples of Contextual suggestions include suggesting your most-played gym playlist before your workout or reminders to cast sports games of your favorite teams. Google has also clarified that the feature operates with encryption and user data is not shared with other apps, third parties or even with Google. There is no rollout schedule provided.
