The Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show is heading to streaming for the first time ever. Netflix announced during its Upfront presentation on Wednesday that it has acquired the iconic, long-running dog competition event. The 151st edition of the show will make its debut and air live on the streamer in February 2027.
The Westminster Dog Show, which has called Fox Sports its home for the past decade, began in 1877 at New York City’s Madison Square Garden, where it has been held ever since. Netflix’s deal will bring the beloved three-day sporting event to global audiences next year.
“Bringing the Westminster Dog Show to Netflix not only expands the reach of this iconic event but also introduces the sport of dogs to new audiences around the world,” said Dr. Donald Sturz, the president of The Westminster Kennel Club, in a statement. “We are dedicated to growing America’s most beloved dog event year after year, inspiring new enthusiasts and fans across generations to the wonderful sport of dogs.”
The 151st Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show will feature over 3,000 dogs representing 200 breeds. The group judging and Best in Show portion of the event will take place on Feb. 1-2 and will stream live from Madison Square Garden. Daytime breed competitions will take place at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center and stream on Tudum.com and Westminster Kennel Club’s website, where you can find the complete schedule and tickets for the event.
