Apple’s Health App Now Supports Both Menopause and Perimenopause

Along with a new Siri and macOS Golden Gate, Apple announced at its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) on Monday that its Health app’s cycle tracking will support both menopause and perimenopause — not just ovulation and the menstrual period. Plus, if your cycle patterns suggest that you may have perimenopause, you’ll be notified, prompting an important conversation with your doctor.

In the Health app, you’ll now be able to log your symptoms related to menopause and perimenopause. There will also be educational content available to help you expand your knowledge on these topics and learn more about your body.

Every year, about 2 million women enter perimenopause, the phase that occurs before menopause when there’s a decline in the hormone estrogen. According to a February 2025 survey including 4,432 participants over 30 years old, over half of women ages 30 to 35 experienced moderate or severe perimenopause symptoms. In other words, perimenopause doesn’t only impact older adults.

As for menopause, it occurs when a woman’s menstrual periods permanently stop, typically between the ages of 45 and 55. The Society for Women’s Health research reports that about 6,000 US women enter menopause every day.

Considering the significant population of women who have both perimenopause and menopause, this update goes a long way to make the Health app more inclusive. Both the new educational content and perimenopause notifications can also empower women to learn more about what’s going on inside their own bodies and prepare them for informed conversations with their doctors.
