Usually, the purple category of the NYT Connections puzzle is the toughest for me, but that one came easily today. It was the blue grouping that tripped me up. Read on for clues and today’s Connections answers.

The Times has a Connections Bot, like the one for Wordle. Go there after you play to receive a numeric score and to have the program analyze your answers. Players who are registered with the Times Games section can now nerd out by following their progress, including the number of puzzles completed, win rate, number of times they nabbed a perfect score and their win streak.

Hints for today’s Connections groups

Here are four hints for the groupings in today’s Connections puzzle, ranked from the easiest yellow group to the tough (and sometimes bizarre) purple group.

Yellow group hint: The art form from “Ghost.”

Green group hint: Ouch!

Blue group hint: You say these differently.

Purple group hint: Toyota Tacoma is one.

Answers for today’s Connections groups

Yellow group: Pottery equipment.

Green group: Wallop.

Blue group: Words pronounced different ways as proper nouns.

Purple group: Pick-up ____.

The theme is wallop. The four answers are deck, punch, slug and sock.

The blue words in today’s Connections

The theme is words pronounced different ways as proper nouns. The four answers are herb, nice, polish and reading.

The purple words in today’s Connections

The theme is pick-up ____. The four answers are artist, game, sticks and truck.
