Samsung is rumored to launch two book-style folding smartphones this year – the Galaxy Z Fold8 and the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra. The Fold8 was previously called Fold8 Wide, while the Fold8 Ultra was called the Fold8. The renaming happened last month, causing confusion. While there’s no word from Samsung on this development, we now know that the Fold8 Ultra moniker is real.

This confirmation comes from the Bluetooth SIG, which has listed the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra in its database after certifying the foldable. While the database doesn’t divulge any specs of the Fold8 Ultra, it has revealed five model numbers of the smartphone: SC-56G, SCG39, SM-F976C, SM-F976Q, and SM-F976Z.

Rumors claim the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra packs a 5,000 mAh battery, supports 45W wired charging, and weighs 215 g. The smartphone will measure 4.1mm when unfolded, making it 0.1mm thinner than its predecessor – the Galaxy Z Fold7.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8, on the other hand, will come with a 4,800 mAh battery but have the same charging speed as the Ultra model. It will weigh 201 g and feature a new 50MP camera with native support for 24MP mode.

The display creases on the Fold8 and Fold8 Ultra are rumored to be as minimal as the Oppo Find N6’s. Samsung is rumored to launch these smartphones on July 22 at an event in London alongside the Galaxy Z Flip8.
